The Sensory Funnel
Several years ago I was on one of my obsessive quests for information that might help my son with autism. I happened to find a couple of young guys who were starting a blog called Asperger Experts. These two were incredible! They are young men with Aspergers (a form of autism) and they were willing to share their struggles to help others. I found a video called "The sensory funnel." This is a MUST SEE for parents and teachers of children with anxiety, autism or ADHD. I will link it here and let the experts explain!

Play Therapy Works!
I was a school counselor for 16 years before I got formal training in play therapy. I had naturally used play to encourage kids to express themselves and get comfortable in my school counseling office. After my training in Child Centered Play Therapy with Dr. Whitehead and Dee Ray at University of North Texas, I saw a complete transformation in some of my students. Anxiety dissolved and aggressive children reached a state of calm. I was surprised by the outcomes myself! Since school counselors do not do "therapy," my time was limited to help children in that setting. I opened The Growing Place Youth Counseling to make Play Therapy easily accessible to our local families!
"You learn more about a person in an hour of play than in a lifetime of conversation."
